I got my very own Arturia MiniLab controller not too long ago and I’ve been using it to learn all sorts of Reason Remote tricks. I’m putting the finishing touches on the configuration and within the next few weeks I’ll be publishing a public version that those of you with these 2 items can make use of.
After that, I’m finally going to get back on the Maschine/Reason integration task. I’m fairly certain I should be able to crack the code to start sending text to Maschine’s displays so it’ll be possible to see what each knob and button is assigned to without even having to look at your computer screen.
How goes the release?
Sheldon,
Thanks for asking. The codec is complete and working great so all the MiniLab controls can be used to control Reason devices. I’ve spent too much time building the Remote Map, though, which sets default assignments for each Reason device. It’s not strictly necessary to do much here since you can manually create your own remote mapping assignments in the application, and the device-level assignments from the remote map only get activated when you lock the controller to a device.
I’ll get something published for you over the Thanksgiving break, and then I can just update the remote maps later if I make any additions or changes.
Hi Todd,
just read you are working on the MiniLab Remote support! Man, that would give me something to really be thankful for on Thanksgiving I’ve even signed up as a RE and Remote developer at Propellerheads, but I never had the time to dive into it…
When you release it, and if it works as good as I hope, is there a way to drop some bucks as a Thank You?
Cheers,
Frank
I’m excited to see this! Hope it comes soon and thank you very much!
Sorry for the delay everyone. I got sidetracked working on some additions to a track for Olivia Broadfield’s forthcoming album and then spent the last couple weeks doing some AMAZING things with the Numark Orbit and Remote that turned into an obsession I couldn’t let go of. Over the weekend I got pickup handling working on the knobs and faders of the Korg nanoKontrol so moving them doesn’t cause connected items in Reason to jump – instead the virtual values don’t start moving until the physical control matches them (works on all 4 scenes, too).
I’ve got 6 live acoustic shows this week, but I will work hard to get all of this stuff documented (briefly) and out the door in time for Christmas. I’ll make the MiniLab the first priority.
Just a quick note to let you know that I’ve released the MiniLab Remote codec into the wild. You can pick it up at http://theinstrumentpanel.com/minilab-codec/.
Merry Christmas!
